A holiday expert has identified three European destinations that are cheaper than usual this summer, offering significant savings on seven-night packages. Despite high demand for travel during the summer months, Bulgaria, Montenegro, and Turkey have all seen considerable price drops, according to Gavin Brewer, Head of Aviation at loveholidays.
Brewer noted that there isn't a blanket trend of rising holiday costs across the board, and bargains are still available. While the United States saw the biggest markdown, with seven-night packages dropping by £117 per person on average since the conflict in the Middle East erupted, the three European hotspots have followed suit with substantial price cuts.
Bulgaria: Savings of £60 Per Person
Bulgaria, known for its golden beaches along the Black Sea and majestic mountain terrain, has dropped by an average of £60 per person. The country offers affordable options for holidaymakers, with a local beer costing around €2.32 (£2). Popular destinations include the capital Sofia, with its golden-domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and bustling Vitosha Boulevard, as well as the ancient city of Plovdiv, which dates back more than 8,000 years and is the former European Capital of Culture.
Montenegro: A Balkan Bargain at £53 Less
Montenegro, often described as a 'Balkan gem', has seen a price drop of around £53 per person. The country features dramatic mountain landscapes meeting the sea, unspoilt national parks, and laid-back coastal towns along the Adriatic Sea. Highlights include the Bay of Kotor, often called 'Europe's southernmost fjord', with towering cliffs, azure waters, and medieval towns like Kotor and Herceg Novi, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Durmitor National Park offers glacier-carved landscapes, pine forests, and crystal-clear glacial lakes.
Turkey: £35 Off Per Person
Turkey, lying between Europe and Asia, has seen a price cut of around £35 per person. Known for its striking architecture, rich culinary scene, and colourful markets, Turkey offers diverse landscapes and vibrant heritage. Istanbul's old city, Sultanahmet, features landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. Cappadocia is famed for its fairy-tale rock formations and hot air balloon-filled skies at sunrise.
Brewer added: 'There are still plenty of affordable getaways available this summer. If price is your main priority, a great way to find the best deal is to search our platform for holidays based on your budget alone.'
