Hidden Gem UK Beach With No Crowds Revealed

Travel writer Amy Jones has named Marloes Sands Beach in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, as her favourite UK beach, praising its lack of crowds despite the anticipated surge in visitors to British coastlines this summer. The beach, located on the south-western tip of the Pembrokeshire coast, offers unspoilt golden sand and pristine blue waters, framed by towering cliffs and unique rock formations.

Why Marloes Sands Stands Out

Jones notes that while many UK beaches are expected to be busier than ever due to balmy temperatures, Marloes Sands remains relatively quiet. She says, "For my family and me, who visit regularly, we're treated to plenty of room and expanses of golden sand. We've never had to battle for that coveted patch on the beach." The beach is also dog-friendly year-round, allowing pets to roam freely.

Hollywood Connection and Practical Tips

Marloes Sands has even featured in Hollywood, with scenes from the 2011 film 'Snow White and the Huntsman' starring Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron filmed there in September 2011. However, the beach has no amenities, so visitors must bring their own provisions. The walk from the National Trust car park is a 0.5-mile winding path through meadow fields, which can be challenging with children and picnic gear. Jones recommends checking tide times, as sections of the beach can become cut off at high tide.

Nearby Facilities

After the trek, visitors can enjoy ice cream from a van occasionally parked nearby, or visit the Runwayskiln café close to the car park for sweet treats and chilled drinks. Jones concludes, "Provided you plan ahead and keep track of the time, you'll be basking in the sunshine in your own little slice of paradise."
