Paultons Park Unveils £12 Million Viking Land Valgard Opening This Spring

The popular theme park, Paultons Park, has released exciting details and sneak peek images of its highly anticipated new Viking-themed land, Valgard: Realm of the Vikings. This £12 million project is scheduled to open later this spring, specifically on Saturday, May 16, marking a significant expansion for the Hampshire-based attraction.

Thrill Rides for Teenagers and Adults

While Paultons Park is best known as the home of Peppa Pig World, which opened in 2011 and has drawn thousands of young families, Valgard is aimed at teenagers and adults, solidifying the park's reputation as a destination for thrill rides. One of the most anticipated attractions is Drakon, the park's first inverting rollercoaster. It features a vertical lift hill and two twists where riders will be flung upside-down. Images show vehicles with dry ice and dim lighting, hinting at an atmospheric experience.

Another new ride, Vild Swing, will throw riders 12 metres into the air while spinning them around. A teaser video has showcased construction and on-ride footage, building excitement for this thrilling addition. Additionally, a former ride, Cobra, has been revamped into Raven, a bobsled adventure redesigned to fit the Viking theme, offering something familiar yet fresh for frequent visitors.

Immersive Viking Experience

Valgard is designed to be an immersive and action-packed experience for families. Younger visitors can enjoy a Viking-themed playground, while the new Feasting Hall restaurant allows guests to dine like Vikings, completing the themed atmosphere. Lawrence Mancey, marketing and technology director at Paultons Park, commented on the progress, stating, "Despite weeks of rain and difficult conditions, our team and contractors have made incredible progress on site. We designed Valgard to offer an immersive, atmospheric, and action-packed experience for families, and it’s amazing to see the vision come together."

He added that new pathways, landscaping, and Viking statues have been installed, with Drakon and Vild Swing beginning testing and the Feasting Hall looking impressive. The park is eager to open in May and share the journey with fans online.

Expanding Paultons Park's Offerings

Paultons Park already boasts six themed worlds, including Tornado Springs, themed around Midwestern America with rides like the Cyclonator and Storm Chaser rollercoaster, and Lost Kingdom, a dinosaur-themed world loved by all ages. Valgard adds a seventh world, enhancing the park's appeal. Tickets can be booked online starting at £46.75 per person, with the option to book a short break through the official website for a second day free and nearby hotel stays.
