M25 Closed Near J6 After Serious Crash: Hour-Long Delays

The M25 has been closed in both directions near Junction 6 in Surrey following a serious multi-vehicle collision, causing hour-long delays in blistering heat that could reach 40°C today.

Emergency services, including Surrey Police, Surrey Fire & Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and an air ambulance, are at the scene. National Highways has confirmed the closure and warned of severe congestion.

Traffic Chaos and Delays

National Highways stated: "Traffic is being held on the #M25 clockwise at J6 #Godstone due to a serious collision. Emergency services are on scene. There are delays in excess of 60 minutes and 6 miles of congestion on the approach."

The motorway is closed clockwise between Junction 5 (Chevening Interchange) and Junction 6 (Godstone Interchange), and anti-clockwise within Junction 6. The M26 westbound is also shut between Junction 3 of the M20 and the M25.

Heatwave Conditions

The closure comes as temperatures are forecast to hit 40°C, adding to the discomfort for motorists stuck in long queues. Traffic caught within the closure is being released forwards to exit at Junction 6.

National Highways added: "This is due to a serious collision near J6. Surrey Police, Surrey Fire & Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service, an Air Ambulance and National Highways all have units on scene."
