Drivers are facing significant delays on the M6 southbound this morning following a crash that resulted in a temporary traffic hold. The incident occurred between junction 19 at Knutsford and junction 18 at Middlewich in Cheshire, causing congestion that is expected to persist for some time.

According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, traffic was briefly stopped between the two junctions due to the collision. One lane remains closed, and motorists are experiencing long delays. An Inrix spokesperson stated: "Long delays and one lane closed due to accident on M6 Southbound from J19 A556 (Knutsford) to J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich/Holmes Chapel). Lane one remains closed after being held for around 10 minutes."
Current Situation
National Highways has reported that drivers are facing queues of up to 40 minutes, with traffic tailing back for approximately five miles.
