A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a 14-year-old girl, believed to be missing teenager Lilly, was discovered in Duffryn Park in Blaina, Wales, at approximately 10pm on Monday, June 22.
Discovery and Police Response
Formal identification has not yet been completed, but Gwent Police have confirmed that the family of the missing 14-year-old has been informed. A substantial police presence remains in the area as officers work to determine the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.
Images from the scene show a police cordon at Pilgrims Park, Blaina, Abertillery, on Tuesday morning. Emergency services have been operating at the park since around 10pm on Monday, according to Wales Online.
Missing Person Appeal
On Monday afternoon, Gwent Police issued an appeal for information regarding the missing teenager. They stated she was last seen on High Street, Blaina, at approximately 6.50pm on Saturday, June 20. Police described the girl as white, approximately 5ft 6in tall, of medium build with long black hair. She was last observed wearing a long black dress and black sandals, and was understood to have connections to Brynmawr, a town just north of Blaina.

Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas said: "We understand that this will cause distress and concern amongst our communities. We have a large police presence in the area at this time as enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death. Our officers are here and available for you to speak to.
