Police have launched an investigation after a man's body was discovered in the water at Watermead Country Park in Leicestershire on Saturday afternoon (July 4). Emergency services were called to the popular park following reports of a body spotted in the water.
Emergency Response and Recovery
Leicestershire Police officers, along with paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service, responded to the call at approximately 2:28pm. The man's body was retrieved from the water shortly after. Despite efforts from emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are currently treating the death as unexplained while investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to Leicestershire Live.
Police Statement
A representative for Leicestershire Police stated: "Police received a call at 2.28pm today (Saturday 4 July) regarding a report of a body in the water at Watermead Country Park. Officers attended at the location and the body of a man was removed a short time after. Colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance also attended and the man was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained as enquiries continue."
