Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a serious assault in Livingston after a 62-year-old man was found injured with stab wounds on a residential street. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 30 June, 2026, around 6:50 pm, when officers were called to Howden Road West following reports of an injured man.
Victim Hospitalised with Non-Life Threatening Injuries
The 62-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police Scotland confirmed that the man's condition was not considered life-threatening. The alleged stabbing prompted a significant police response, with a heavy presence seen on Osprey Brae in the Ladywell area of the town on Wednesday afternoon.
Police Lock Down Residential Street
Officers cordoned off a row of semi-detached homes on Osprey Brae, and marked police cars were parked on the scene. Residents reported uniformed and plain-clothed officers knocking on doors and patrolling the area as part of the investigation. The street was taped off by police in relation to the alleged stabbing.
Arrest Made and Investigation Ongoing
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Livingston on Tuesday, 30 June, 2026. Around 6.50pm we were called to a report of an injured man on Howden Road West. The 62-year-old attended hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries. On Wednesday, 1 July, the 31-year-old was arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.”
An investigation remains ongoing, and police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward. The residential street remained locked down as officers continued their enquiries.
