Kevin Kerjean, 31, has appeared in court charged with murder and sexual offences after the body of a two-year-old girl was discovered at a property in Chertsey, Surrey. Surrey Police confirmed on Saturday, June 27, that Kerjean, a French national born in the Central African Republic, faces charges of murder, rape of a child under 13, and sexual assault of a child under 13.
Court Appearance and Remand
Kerjean appeared before Guildford Magistrates' Court on Saturday and has been remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, June 29.
Discovery of the Victim
Police were called to Pyrcroft Road in Chertsey around 5:40 PM on Thursday, June 25, following reports of concern for safety. Upon arrival, officers found the two-year-old girl deceased inside the premises. Initially, authorities stated the victim was three years old but later clarified her age as two.

Surrey Police's Major Crime Team is leading the investigation to determine the circumstances of the girl's death. Detective Chief Superintendent Jon Groenen stated: "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the child's family, as well as all those who knew her. Our teams are working hard to build a picture of what happened, and a significant police presence will remain in Pyrcroft Road over the coming days."
A Surrey Police spokesperson added: "At this stage, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident." Police have also dismissed inaccurate online reports claiming the address is an active asylum seeker HMO (House in Multiple Occupation), confirming it is not.
