A man has denied using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour towards Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near his home on the Sandringham Estate. Alex Jenkinson, 39, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday following the alleged incident, which took place on Wednesday near Mountbatten-Windsor’s Marsh Farm property in Wolferton, Norfolk.
Court Proceedings and Charges
Jenkinson pleaded guilty to a separate charge of failing to provide a blood specimen while in custody. However, he denied a further charge of threatening behaviour towards another man in King’s Lynn. The court heard that the alleged threat against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor occurred when Jenkinson was near the royal residence.
Bail Conditions and Upcoming Trial
District Judge Sarah Turnock granted Jenkinson conditional bail. The conditions prohibit him from approaching Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor or visiting several royal family residences, including Sandringham House and Buckingham Palace. Jenkinson is also barred from contacting the royal family member directly.
His trial is scheduled for 29 July, during which Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is expected to give evidence via video link. The case continues to attract significant media attention due to the involvement of a senior member of the royal family.
Background of the Incident
The incident occurred on the Sandringham Estate, a private property owned by the royal family. Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, resides at Marsh Farm, a property he acquired after stepping back from royal duties. The estate is a popular tourist destination, but security around the royal residences remains tight.
Jenkinson’s legal team has not yet commented on the specifics of the case. The trial is expected to last one day, with the court hearing evidence from witnesses and the defendant.
