Murder probe launched after Netherton woman found dead

Merseyside Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Netherton. Emergency services were called to an address on St Ambrose Croft at approximately 10am on Sunday, July 5, 2026, where they discovered a woman in her 50s had died.

Arrest Made

Police were alerted by paramedics and subsequently began a murder inquiry. A 30-year-old woman from Netherton has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, according to a police spokesperson. The death is currently being treated as unexplained, with enquiries ongoing to establish the circumstances.

Forensic Evidence

Forensic officers were observed entering and exiting a building at the corner of a close on St Ambrose Croft. Detectives were also present at the scene as the investigation continued.

Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: "Our thoughts at this time are with the family of the woman who has sadly passed away. As this matter is clearly in the very early stages, we would ask people to avoid speculating and allow us to carry out our enquiries."

Appeal for Information

DI Lang added: "Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward."
