Stylist Faces £277,000 Fraud Charges Over Gucci Bag Investment Promises

An internationally-renowned personal shopper and stylist has been charged with a substantial fraud amounting to £277,000 after allegedly assuring clients she would invest their funds in luxury Gucci handbags. Milda Chellingsworth, a 43-year-old Lithuanian-born resident of Sundridge in Kent, was scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court on Monday but did not attend due to a conflicting case at Bromley County Court.

Details of the Alleged Fraud Scheme

Chellingsworth, who serves as the company director of SFY Styling Concierge Ltd and SFY Styling Ltd, faces three separate counts of fraud spanning from 2019 to 2023. The charges involve accusations of dishonestly making false representations to clients, promising lucrative returns from investments in high-end Gucci bags.

The first charge relates to a £52,000 fraud alleged to have occurred between June 10, 2019, and May 31, 2021. Prosecutors claim Chellingsworth misled Trevor Coop by falsely stating she would invest his money in expensive Gucci handbags, guaranteeing thousands of pounds in profit.

The second charge involves a similar £78,400 fraud between April 1 and May 31, 2021, where she is accused of making false representations to Patricia Navarro regarding Gucci bag investments for profit.

The third charge totals £146,861.63 and is dated between May 1 and August 31, 2023. Chellingsworth is alleged to have abused her position as the retained agent of Mandy Gray by dishonestly retaining money in two bank accounts of Styling For You. Instead of using the funds to benefit her client's business, she reportedly spent the money for personal use.

Court Proceedings and Adjournment

During Monday's hearing, Chellingsworth's lawyer, Frazer Bradshaw, informed the magistrates that her attendance conflicted with a substantive matter at Bromley County Court scheduled for the entire morning. Additionally, Bradshaw cited her daughter's illness as a reason for her need to return home.

Bench Chairman Richard Hay expressed reluctance but ultimately adjourned the case after questioning which court proceeding should have taken priority. The fraud charges remain pending, with further court dates expected to be set.

Background on the Accused Stylist

Milda Chellingsworth operates a high-end styling business, reportedly charging clients £150 per hour for consulting holidaymakers on appropriate suitcase packing and £680 per day for personal gift shopping services. Her professional reputation as an internationally-renowned stylist contrasts sharply with the serious allegations now facing her in court.

The case highlights concerns about investment scams within luxury goods markets and the potential for abuse in client-agent relationships. As the legal process continues, authorities will examine the evidence surrounding these substantial fraud allegations involving promised Gucci bag investments.
