Karen Lawrence, aged 66, was found guilty of embezzling funds through a series of deceptive phone calls targeting financial institutions.

Lawrence executed her fraudulent plan by making a total of nine phone calls to two different companies. In July 2019, she contacted a mortgage firm on three separate occasions, successfully securing £54,557.47. Additionally, she made six calls to a pension company, from which she obtained £45,101.68. The total amount fraudulently acquired was £99,659.12.

At Ayr Sheriff Court, Lawrence received a comprehensive sentence for her crimes. She was ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
