Hennessy Mob's Courtroom Taunts Backfire in Lengthy Jail Terms

Hennessy Mob's Courtroom Antics Fail to Prevent Substantial Prison Sentences

The notorious Hennessy crime gang's foul-mouthed courtroom outbursts and smirking demeanor have spectacularly backfired, with multiple members now facing lengthy prison terms for their brutal criminal activities in Dublin.

Disrespectful Courtroom Behavior

During bail proceedings last February, gang member Dean Fitzsimons unleashed a torrent of abuse toward Judge Paula Murphy, including calling the respected judicial figure a "sl*t" as he and his associates laughed and joked throughout the serious legal proceedings. The disrespectful behavior continued with Jason 'Jay' Hennessy Jr interrupting a prosecuting Garda officer during evidence about truck ownership, shouting "They were my father's trucks so watch what you're f*cking saying. Don't be saying they're mine, you shite talking b*stard" before accusing the officer of "talking b*llocks."

Gruesome Attack on Associate

The courtroom drama followed a particularly gruesome incident on February 12 last year when Barry Moore, an associate of the gang, was lured to the Hennessys' headquarters at Sheephill Avenue in Dublin. The increasingly paranoid criminals believed Moore was an informant and subjected him to hours of torture, including branding the word "rat" on his belly with a cattle iron and threatening him with rape. Despite being severely injured, Moore initially spoke to gardaí about the horrific ordeal.

Although Moore ultimately refused to give evidence in court, leading four of the men to plead guilty to the lesser charge of assault causing harm rather than false imprisonment and assault causing serious harm, the apprehension of the gang members has brought about an abrupt end to their reign of terror in the Corduff area.

Gang Leader Receives Substantial Sentence

Gang leader Jason Hennessy Jr, 29, has received eight and a half years in prison for his role in the brutal attack on Moore. The large, aggressive figure had become well-known after appearing on the Virgin Media documentary 'Inside the K', which chronicled gardaí activities in the area. In the documentary, Hennessy was seen attempting to confront officers and calling them vile names.

Violent Feud and Christmas Eve Shooting

The Hennessy mob had been embroiled in several violent feuds, most notably against Glen Ward, the infamous Finglas-based mobster known as 'Mr Flashy.' This ongoing conflict reached a boiling point on Christmas Eve 2023 when gunman Tristan Sherry barged into Browne's Steakhouse in Blanchardstown and opened fire on Jason Hennessy Sr, who was enjoying a Christmas meal with family.

The patriarch of the Hennessy family was gravely injured and died days later in hospital. During the chaotic incident, several members of the Hennessy gang set upon Sherry, violently kicking, stamping, stabbing, and shooting him to death. Associates Michael Andrecut (23), Noah Musueni (18), and David Amah (19) were all ultimately convicted of Sherry's murder.

Young Associates and Previous Violence

The Christmas Eve incident revealed the substantial size of the Hennessy mob, which included many very young associates. Brandon Hennessy, 22, has now received a consecutive six-year sentence for the attack on Moore, while three others were convicted of violent disorder related to the steakhouse shooting. Another associate, 19-year-old Juares Kumbu, was jailed for two years for removing the gun from the scene.

Jason Hennessy Jr had previously managed to avoid jail with a suspended sentence for violent disorder in 2018 after launching an attack in Dublin's D'Olier Street in 2015. During that incident, he returned to his car to retrieve a hammer and attacked victim Dylan Campbell, causing injuries requiring stitches.

Social Media Bragging and Criminal Lifestyle

The gang was known for making light of their criminal activities, often posting pictures and videos to social media platforms where they blatantly showed off the spoils of their criminality. This brazen attitude extended to their courtroom behavior, where their smirking and joking ultimately failed to prevent substantial prison sentences that have dismantled their criminal operation.

Following the shooting and double murders at Browne's Steakhouse, gardaí conducted round-the-clock patrols in Corduff, fearing further retaliation in the violent feud that had claimed multiple lives and revealed the extreme levels of violence both sides were willing to commit.
