Police Issue Dispersal Order in Gorton After Youth ASB

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have implemented a Section 35 dispersal order in Gorton following a series of anti-social behaviour incidents involving youths fighting and harassing members of the public. The order came into effect at 5.30pm on Thursday, June 25, and will remain active until 5.30pm on Saturday, June 27.

Area Covered by the Order

The dispersal zone encompasses Gorton Train Station, Hyde Road, Matthews Lane, Gorton Lower Reservoir, and Pink Bank Lane. Police stated that the temporary measures were necessary due to recent incidents of anti-social behaviour, including physical altercations and harassment reported on Thursday.

Police Statement on Enforcement

Inspector Zac Campbell of GMP said: “This order has been implemented to provide further powers for officers in the area to deal with anti-social behaviour affecting our communities. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and where this is reported to us, we will look to take action – either through proactive action including arrests or preventative problem-solving work alongside our local partners.”
