Two men were arrested and £140,000 in cash was seized during major police raids targeting an organised crime group suspected of large-scale financial crime across the region.

Arrests and Seizures

A 50-year-old man from Preston and a 42-year-old man from Prestwich, Bury, were both arrested on suspicion of money laundering and related offences, according to police. Both were interviewed and subsequently released on police bail pending further investigations.

The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU) confirmed that approximately £140,000 in cash was seized, along with other assets believed to be linked to criminal activity.

Raids Across Three Locations

Last week, on Tuesday June 16, officers executed four search warrants at residential and commercial properties in Prestwich, Cheetham Hill, and Preston. The raids were supported by Greater Manchester Police.

The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into an organised crime group suspected of money laundering, tax evasion, and fraud across the region.

Investigation Ongoing

In a statement, NWROCU said: "Officers from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, supported by Greater Manchester Police, have made arrests as part of an ongoing investigation into an organised crime group suspected of large-scale financial crime across the region. The activity forms part of an investigation targeting individuals believed to be involved in money laundering, tax evasion and fraud."

Both men have since been released on bail pending further enquiries. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details or exact locations have been disclosed.
