Colombian Killer Jailed for Dismembering Couple and Dumping Remains Near Clifton Bridge

A Colombian man who murdered two civil partners and dumped their dismembered remains in suitcases near Clifton Suspension Bridge has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 40 years. Yostin Andres Mosquera, 35, killed Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, in their flat in Shepherd's Bush, west London, in July last year.

The court heard that Mosquera repeatedly stabbed Alfonso, causing injuries to his torso, face and neck, while Longworth was struck on the back of the head with a hammer, shattering his skull. After the murders, Mosquera attempted to steal from the victims' bank accounts and searched online for 'where on the head is a knock fatal?'

Mosquera, who was staying with the couple, decapitated and dismembered them, freezing some body parts and transporting the rest in a red suitcase and a silver trunk to the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. When challenged by bridge staff, he fled. The judge described his crimes as 'premeditated and thoroughly wicked' and said he 'may never be safe to set free'.

Mosquera was found guilty of both murders in July at Woolwich Crown Court. He had admitted killing Alfonso but claimed it was manslaughter by loss of control, a defence rejected by the jury. He also pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children, including 1,500 category A images, and was sentenced to 16 months concurrent for those offences.
