Couple Sentenced to Life for Brutal Murder of Three-Month-Old Son
Klevi and Nivaldi Pirjani, a couple from the Wirral, have been handed life sentences after being convicted of murdering their three-month-old son, Miguel Pirjani. The infant was found unresponsive at their home in Percy Road, Seacombe, Wirral, in November 2024 and tragically died five days later in hospital.
Shocking Injuries Revealed in Medical Scans
During the trial at Liverpool Crown Court, it emerged that the parents initially claimed their son had simply stopped breathing. However, comprehensive medical scans conducted at Alder Hey Children's Hospital painted a horrifying picture of extensive injuries. Miguel had suffered a fractured skull and numerous other fractures, which were determined to have occurred in the weeks leading up to his death.
Merseyside Police released a statement confirming the details of the case, noting that the couple was first arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm and Section 18 wounding with intent. Following Miguel's death, these charges were upgraded to murder, Section 18 assault, and causing or allowing the death of a child.
Father's Bizarre Claim in Court
In a disturbing twist during the proceedings, Klevi Pirjani, who previously worked as a chef and digger driver, testified and described himself as "the best dad in the world." He recounted the moment he learned he was going to have a son as a "dream," starkly contrasting with the brutal reality of the crimes for which he and his partner were convicted.
The court heard how emergency services were called to the family home on November 24, 2024, after Miguel was found unresponsive. Despite the efforts of medical professionals at Alder Hey Hospital, the infant could not be saved and was pronounced deceased on November 29, 2024.
Justice Served After Tragic Loss
The sentencing marks the conclusion of a harrowing case that has shocked the local community and beyond. The judge emphasized the severity of the crimes, leading to the life imprisonment terms for both Klevi and Nivaldi Pirjani. This case underscores the critical importance of child protection and the legal system's role in addressing such heinous acts.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to investigating and prosecuting cases of child abuse vigorously, hoping to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The memory of Miguel Pirjani serves as a somber reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by the youngest members of society.
