Gloucestershire Police Officer Pays Tribute After Wife and Two Children Die in Boxing Day Blaze
Dad's Tribute After Family Dies in Boxing Day House Fire

A police officer from Gloucestershire has spoken of his profound grief after his wife and two young children lost their lives in a horrific house fire on Boxing Day.

A Father's Heartbreaking Tribute

Tom Shearman, an officer with Gloucestershire Constabulary based in Brimscombe near Stroud, described his lost family as "three of the greatest humans to ever grace our presence." The tribute was shared in an official statement released by the police force.

Mr Shearman's wife, Fionnghuala Shearman, affectionately known as Nu, perished in the blaze alongside their two children. Their daughter, Eve, was just seven years old, and their son, Ohner, was only four.

Desperate Rescue Attempt Thwarted by Flames

The fire broke out at the family's home on 26 December 2025. In a desperate attempt to save his loved ones, Mr Shearman tried to re-enter the burning building. However, he was forced back by the intensity and severity of the flames, which ultimately destroyed the property.

The brave father was himself taken to hospital for treatment following the incident but has since been discharged.

Community and Force in Mourning

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local community in Gloucestershire and the wider police family. Colleagues and neighbours are rallying to support Mr Shearman as he begins to confront an unimaginable loss.

Gloucestershire Constabulary continues to investigate the exact cause of the Boxing Day house fire, which claimed three lives and left a dedicated public servant and father utterly devastated.
