Dutch Estate Agent Dies in Attic Fall in Spain

A Dutch estate agent has tragically died after falling through an attic while showing a property to potential buyers in Spain. The incident occurred on Friday morning in the village of Chite, nestled in the scenic Lecrin Valley near Granada. The 55-year-old woman, a Dutch national, had been residing in the area for several years, working primarily with foreign clients in real estate.

Details of the Incident

According to The Spanish Eye, an English-language local news outlet, the woman fell approximately six feet through the opening of an attic space. Emergency services, including a medical helicopter, were dispatched to the scene around 11 am following reports of a serious injury. She was rushed to the Neurotraumatology Hospital at Granada’s Virgen de las Nieves hospital complex but succumbed to her injuries.

The exact circumstances of how she fell remain unclear. Those who knew her described her as 'very well loved'. She was buried over the weekend in the village of Restabal.

Second Fatal Incident Involving a British Tourist

In a separate tragedy, a British tourist plunged to his death from a mountain viewpoint in the Spanish city of San Sebastian. The unnamed 38-year-old was pronounced dead around 11 am on Saturday after falling from the slopes of Mount Urgull, which rises 400 feet above the Basque city. A passerby spotted his body and alerted emergency services. First responders were unable to save him, and his body has been sent to the Basque Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy.

Police are investigating the death but have stated that they are not treating it as suspicious at this stage. The Ertzaintza, the autonomous police force for the Basque Country, is leading the probe and reporting to a local court. A spokesman for the force said, 'Around 11am on Saturday, May 16, the Ertzaintza located the lifeless body of a 38-year-old man of European origin beneath the Baluarte Viewpoint on Mount Urgull in the city of San Sebastian. The Ertzaintza has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body. Pending the autopsy and forensic results, the Ertzaintza does not see any signs of criminal activity on the deceased's body.'

It is not yet known if the man was holidaying in the area or a resident of Spain. The Baluarte del Mirador, the viewpoint from which he fell, was originally built in the 16th century as part of San Sebastian's defensive ring.
