The crash took place at approximately 2:35 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-95 in Stafford County. All five victims were occupants of vehicles struck by the bus. Among the injured, three individuals are reported to be in critical condition.
State police stated in a news release that the preliminary investigation indicates traffic was decelerating for an upcoming work zone. The bus failed to reduce speed accordingly and struck six vehicles in the area.
