Man Accused of Storing Elderly Woman's Body in Freezer in Welsh Seaside Town
A 60-year-old man has been accused of keeping the body of an 80-year-old woman in a freezer at a property in the Welsh seaside town of Porthcawl. Christopher Phillips appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court charged with preventing a lawful and decent burial, as well as fraud by false representation.

South Wales Police attended an address on Poplar Crescent in Porthcawl at 1:45 pm on Tuesday, February 17, following a call expressing concerns about the welfare of a woman. Officers discovered the deceased woman within the property, specifically finding her body stored in a freezer. This discovery prompted the immediate arrest and charging of Christopher Phillips, who is also from Porthcawl.
Court Proceedings and Charges
During a short hearing at Cardiff Magistrates Court, Phillips spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and address. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to next appear at Cardiff Crown Court on March 20. The charges against him include:
