Police in Plymouth have launched a public appeal for information after a man was sexually assaulted and then violently attacked on the dance floor of a Wetherspoons pub.
Assault in city centre pub
The incident took place at a Wetherspoons establishment in Plymouth, Devon. According to Devon and Cornwall Police, a man was touched inappropriately by another male on the dance floor.
When the victim challenged the individual responsible, he was allegedly subjected to a physical assault. The suspect is reported to have repeatedly punched the man in response to the confrontation.
CCTV image released in investigation
In an effort to progress the investigation, officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they are keen to identify. The appeal was formally issued on 31 December 2025.
The police believe the individual in the photograph may have crucial information that could assist their enquiries into the serious incident.
Appeal for witnesses
Authorities are urging anyone who recognises the man in the released image, or who witnessed the altercation in the pub, to make contact immediately.
This case highlights concerns about safety in licensed venues, even in well-known national chains like Wetherspoons. The police have not disclosed the exact name of the pub involved at this stage.
