Ohio Man Freed for Attempted Murder Now Accused of Killing Neighbour

An Ohio man, recently released from prison after serving time for attempting to murder his sister with a hammer, is now facing charges for the brutal killing of his neighbour, according to authorities.

Details of the Alleged Crime

Bryan J. Laas, 60, of Toledo, was arrested this week in connection with the homicide of 63-year-old Julie Miller. The victim resided in the same apartment complex on the 2000 block of Arlington Avenue. Toledo police responded to the location on February 16, where they discovered Miller deceased in her apartment. Her death was officially ruled a homicide the following day, leading to Laas's arrest.

In an interview with law enforcement, Laas confessed to entering Miller's apartment and striking her in the head multiple times, resulting in her death, as detailed in an arrest affidavit obtained by The Toledo Blade. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the attack.
