A man has been hospitalised with serious injuries following a house fire in Derbyshire. Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) responded to reports of a blaze at a three-storey terraced property on Baseball Drive in Normanton, Derby, shortly before 10am on Thursday.

Emergency Response

Fire crews from Ascot Drive, Kingsway, Nottingham Road, Long Eaton, Alfreton, Ilkeston, and Ashbourne, along with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service's Stapleford station, were deployed to tackle the fire. Four fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, a command support unit, and a water carrier remained at the scene after firefighting operations ceased.

Casualties and Damage

A DFRS spokesperson confirmed: “All persons are now accounted for. One person has been taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Two people with minor injuries and three people suffering smoke inhalation were treated on scene by paramedics.” The fire caused significant damage to the property and spread to the loft space of neighbouring buildings.
