A young mother was tragically discovered dead in a canal after she did not arrive to collect her two young daughters from their babysitter.
Body Pulled from Bridgewater Canal
Jana Bahvalova, aged 29, was pulled from the Bridgewater Canal in Altrincham, Greater Manchester. The discovery was made at approximately 8.30am on Wednesday, December 10.
The body was later formally identified as Jana, who had been living in the Birchwood area of Warrington. She had moved there earlier this year from Peterborough following the breakdown of a relationship.
A Devoted Mother Reported Missing
Her family first realised she was missing on Monday, December 8, when she failed to pick up her daughters, Adelina and Kate, from their babysitter.
Her sister, Diāna Bahvalova, shared a heartfelt tribute, describing Jana as a 'quiet, kind and gentle soul' and a 'devoted' mother. "After separating from her husband, she was raising her two daughters on her own," Diāna said. "She loved cycling very much, which was something that brought her peace and happiness."
Jana was employed as a hotel housekeeper and her daughters were said to be her 'entire world'.
Family Launches Fundraising Appeal
The family is now raising funds to support Jana's children and contribute towards funeral costs through a dedicated GoFundMe page.
This remains a developing news story. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
