Murder charge after New Year's Eve stabbing in Bury

A 25-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Bury on New Year's Eve, which claimed the life of a 24-year-old man.

Charges and Court Appearance

Anthony Junior Murray, of Tarn Drive in Bury, faces charges of murder and possession of a bladed article. Greater Manchester Police confirmed the charges in a statement issued today. Mr Murray was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates' Court this morning.

Tragic Death and Ongoing Investigation

The victim, a 24-year-old man named in court documents as Joe Burton, died at the scene of the incident. Police have stated that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death remains active and ongoing.

Images from the residential street show a police cordon still in place, with a forensic tent erected as officers continue to gather photographic evidence. In a related development, a woman in her 20s was also arrested on suspicion of murder. She has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

Police Appeal for Information

Greater Manchester Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation. Detectives are particularly keen to obtain any CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage from the vicinity of Tarn Drive around the time of the incident.
