Pedestrian Dies After Exiting Broken-Down Car on A1(M)

A pedestrian has tragically lost his life after exiting a broken-down vehicle on the A1(M) motorway near Stevenage, according to police. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning when the man, believed to be in his 30s, was struck by two vehicles after leaving a silver Honda Civic that had stopped on the grass verge close to junction eight.

Details of the Incident

Hertfordshire Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:20 am on Saturday following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and two vehicles near the slip road at junction eight for Stevenage. Paramedics attended the scene, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Ben Heath, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed his condolences: 'Firstly, my thoughts go out to the man's loved ones at this sad time.' He added that the drivers of both vehicles involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are now appealing for witnesses, information, and dash cam footage to help establish the full circumstances of the collision. DS Heath said: 'At this stage, we believe the man may have been exiting a broken-down silver Honda Civic that was stationary on the grass verge near to the slip road.
