Police in Portugal are searching for a cyclist who violently assaulted a female driver after a road rage incident in the city of Matosinhos, near Porto, on Monday evening.
Attack Caught on Video
The distressing incident, captured on video by a witness, shows the man cycling into the 37-year-old woman before dismounting and immediately launching a physical attack. He grabs her body, strikes her face and neck, and repeatedly punches her during the furious roadside altercation.
The woman attempts to defend herself, but within seconds, the cyclist throws her to the ground in the middle of the street. He then grabs her by the hair and continues punching her as she covers her head with her arms.
Shocked bystanders, including an elderly woman, can be heard screaming as they rush towards the pair to intervene and stop the assault.
Background of the Incident
According to the victim's account to police, the cyclist punched her vehicle three times while it was stationary. She exited her car to confront him, leading to the escalation into a terrifying attack.
The cyclist fled the scene before authorities arrived at approximately 5:10 PM. Firefighters from Leca do Balio treated the injured driver, who sustained minor injuries, before transporting her to a hospital for further care.
Police Investigation
The victim has since filed a formal complaint with the Public Security Police, who are now working to identify and locate the suspect. The footage of the attack has spread widely on social media, with users sharing appeals to help track down the attacker.
Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the search for the cyclist continues.
