Madonna has opened up about her past relationships while promoting her upcoming album, revealing that John F Kennedy Jr was her greatest night of passion – but only among those who have passed away.
Promotion via Grindr
The pop icon is promoting her latest album, Confessions II, through an unconventional partnership with the dating app Grindr. Instead of a traditional press tour, she filmed a video alongside playwright Jeremy O. Harris, Bob The Drag Queen, dancer Ivy Mugler, designer Raul Lopez, and ID's Marcello Gutierrez, who posed the questions.
Page Six obtained the footage ahead of its official release. In one exchange, Raul asked Madonna who her greatest night of passion was with. “I'm only going to name dead people,” she replied. She then covered her mouth and whispered, “John Kennedy Jr” – prompting a collective gasp from the group. “Mmm hmm,” Madonna confirmed. “You're the third person I've heard say that,” said Lopez.
Brief Romance in the Late 1980s
John F Kennedy Jr – the son of US President John F Kennedy – was a businessman and magazine publisher who died at age 38 in 1999. The pair dated very briefly in the late 1980s. According to a close friend of Kennedy's quoted in the 2024 book JFK Jr: An Intimate Oral Biography by RoseMarie Terenzio and Liz McNeil, the relationship was “totally a fling. Nothing more. Barely a fling at that.” The source claimed it was “all about physical attraction, it wasn't going to be anything beyond that.”
Album Details and Promotional Stunts
The video will be available on Grindr's in-app media platform Grindr Presents as well as on YouTube and Instagram. The app is also releasing limited-edition picture-disc vinyl versions of the new album.
Madonna was recently seen putting up posters promoting Confessions II late at night in east London, documenting the experience on Instagram. In the video, she and two men plaster posters across London, including the capital's Shoreditch area. The video is set to ‘Bring Your Love’, her duet with Sabrina Carpenter, and was captioned: “Did you find yours?” The posters reveal the album contains 12 tracks, including one called ‘Danceteria’, named after the legendary 1980s New York nightclub. While several features are expected, the track list does not name them – including Sabrina Carpenter.
