Cincinnati Reds pitcher Andrew Abbott has added a significant personal milestone to his recent professional successes. Just days after helping the Reds secure a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, the All-Star pitcher proposed to his longtime girlfriend, local television news anchor Lindsay Stone.
Romantic Proposal in Cincinnati
The MLB star took to Instagram on Friday to share the happy news, posting photos of the romantic moment. Abbott knelt on the rooftop of the Lytle Park Hotel in downtown Cincinnati, with the city skyline—including the Reds' stadium—serving as a picturesque backdrop. Red rose petals were scattered around the scene, and giant block letter signs spelled out 'Marry Me.' In the images, an elated Stone can be seen embracing Abbott, proudly showing off the dazzling engagement ring.
Relationship Timeline
The couple is believed to have been together since mid-2024, going public with their romance on the 2025 All-Star Game red carpet. Stone, who has been a TV news anchor for Cincinnati's WLWT for three years, grew up just 30 miles outside the city. She began her journalism career as a sports reporter and anchor at WNDU in South Bend, Indiana, where she covered Notre Dame football.
Earlier this month, Stone announced that her time at WLWT would end, though her future plans remain unclear. In a Facebook post, she expressed gratitude: 'Working in my hometown has been a dream I never took for granted, and I'm so thankful for every person who trusted me to tell their stories along the way. For this Cincy girl, it truly doesn't get more special than that. Though I'm stepping into a new season filled with exciting opportunities and new adventures, this community will always hold a special place in my heart.'
Abbott's Season Performance
On the mound, Abbott, the Reds' Opening Day starting pitcher, had a challenging start to the season with a 6.59 ERA through his first six starts. However, he has recently bounced back, posting a 1.29 ERA and 19 strikeouts over his last five starts.
