Three men in Dagestan, Russia, have been hailed as heroes after rescuing a young boy from a taxi that plunged into a fast-flowing canal. The incident occurred on the October Revolution Canal in Makhachkala, where the vehicle veered off the road and began to sink.
Footage shows the men precariously hanging over a metal pipe to reach the child, who was lifted from an open window of the partly submerged car. One rescuer stripped to his underwear despite freezing temperatures, as the group passed the boy to safety on the canal bank.
Eyewitnesses reported that the boy’s mother and the taxi driver were later rescued by emergency services using a rope. The driver, Nurislam Ramazanov, said he lost control after skidding to avoid a parked car, and the brakes failed while taking the mother and child to hospital.
One of the rescuers, Assadulla Magomedov, previously trained at an MMA school named after Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. Witnesses praised the trio’s quick thinking, with some calling it 'an ordinary day for Dagestan', known for its strong community spirit.
