Emergency services are conducting a large-scale search at Meynell Lake in Syston, Leicestershire, after a teenage boy was reported to have entered the water. The search began following a call to police just after 1:30pm on Thursday, June 25.

Search Details

Three police vehicles were seen near Syston Sailing Club, with officers stationed at the entrance. Three search teams have been deployed, and officers entered the water shortly after 6:15pm. An ambulance was also spotted at the scene. Leicestershire Live reports that the search could continue for some time, with police support crews now present.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "Emergency services are currently carrying out searches in Syston to locate a teenage boy who was reported to have entered a lake. Police were called to Meynell Lake, in Fosse Way just after 1.30pm today (Thursday 25 June). Officers are currently in attendance with colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. Searches are being carried out to locate the boy and officers are in contact with his next of kin."
