Police in West Yorkshire have made three arrests following a disturbing incident at a Leeds shopping centre, where two schoolgirls were allegedly sexually assaulted.
Arrests Made Following Disturbing Reports
West Yorkshire Police confirmed they first received reports of men acting suspiciously in the Seacroft area of Leeds on Tuesday, 30 December 2025. Officers swiftly attended the scene at the local shopping centre.
Upon arrival, they located two teenage girls and immediately detained two men. A 38-year-old and a 44-year-old were arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in connection with the incident.
Third Suspect Detained as Inquiry Expands
The investigation progressed on Wednesday, 31 December, when officers detained a third suspect. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, bringing the total number of individuals in custody to three.
A police spokesperson stated that all three men remain in police custody for questioning. Leeds District Safeguarding officers are leading the ongoing enquiries, focusing on supporting the two young victims and piecing together the full circumstances of the alleged attack.
Police Reassurance Patrols in the Area
In response to the incident, which has understandably caused concern in the community, West Yorkshire Police have increased their visible presence. The force has been conducting reassurance patrols with uniformed officers in and around the Seacroft shopping centre area.
In an official statement, the force said: "Enquiries remain ongoing by Leeds District Safeguarding officers to support the victims and determine the full circumstances of what occurred. Reassurance patrols by uniformed officers have also been ongoing in the area."
