A murder investigation has been launched following the deaths of two teenage friends who were allegedly struck by a BMW in a hit-and-run incident in Newport, South Wales. Jaydon Bowyer, 19, and Ta-Shay Canoville, 16, died after being thrown from their motorbike near a roundabout in the early hours of Thursday, 7 May.
Arrests Made
Police have arrested an 18-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of murder. A 24-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Tributes to the Victims
Jaydon Bowyer's mother, Sophie Pederson, paid a heartfelt tribute, saying: "My boy, my darling darling boy. Why just why. How do I live without you here by my side. You were the best boy ever. Everyone adored you."
His girlfriend, Rachael Stephenson, described him as her "happiness" and said: "You were more to me than just a boyfriend. The pain of losing you so suddenly is something words could never fully explain."
Ta-Shay Canoville's father, Carl, received support from his Sunday league football team, Odsal Rangers, who held a minute's silence and wore black armbands in tribute.
Police Appeal
Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage. The collision occurred in Aberthaw Road, Newport, between midnight and 1:40am. The BMW allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived. Paramedics pronounced both males dead at the scene.
A police spokesman said: "Specially trained officers will be allocated to support the families throughout the investigation. Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact us quoting log reference 2600141467."
