Emergency services recovered the body of a woman from water at Island Lodge in Tottington, Bury, on Sunday evening. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the woman, aged in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were called to the area near Mill Street at around 8.20pm on Sunday, June 28, following reports of a body in the water. Eyewitnesses reported a large police presence at the scene. GMP stated there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 8.20pm last night (28 June), officers responded to reports of a body in the water close to Mill Street, Tottington. Sadly, the body of a woman in her 60s was recovered from the water. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
Context of Recent Water Incidents
This incident follows two other tragic water-related events in Greater Manchester over the weekend. On Saturday, the body of a 15-year-old boy was recovered from Cowbury Reservoir in Stalybridge, Tameside, after a major search operation. In Salford, a second teenage boy remains missing after being reported in the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park. The search for him continues as of Monday morning.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant near water, especially during warm weather when more people are drawn to open water areas.
