Nick Reiner's Eerie 2016 Warning Resurfaces as He Faces Court for Parents' Murder
Nick Reiner's warning before parents' murder charge

A newly resurfaced video shows Nick Reiner issuing a stark warning about his own volatile behaviour years before he was charged with the brutal murder of his parents, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner.

A Chilling Warning from the Past

During a 2016 interview with Access Hollywood to promote the film Being Charlie, which he worked on with his father, Nick Reiner made disturbing comments about his temperament. "I get crazy. You don't want to set me off," he stated, also describing himself as "emotional" and a "nutcase." His father, Rob Reiner, however, dismissed concerns about his son's behaviour impacting his reputation, saying, "He's my son. I love him. It doesn't matter."

This eerie foreshadowing comes as 32-year-old Nick Reiner is set for his first court appearance today, charged with two counts of first-degree murder. His parents, aged 78 and 70, were found dead from apparent stab wounds in their $13.5 million Los Angeles mansion on Sunday.

A Family Shattered by Tragedy

The grim discovery was made by the couple's daughter, 28-year-old Romy Reiner. She was called to the Brentwood home by a massage therapist who couldn't gain entry. Upon opening the door, Romy found her father's lifeless body on a blood-soaked bed and fled the house in anguish, so distressed she did not initially realise her mother was also slain inside.

Romy immediately identified her brother Nick as a suspect to police. Nick Reiner, who has long struggled with drug addiction, was arrested on Sunday and is being held without bail. He is being represented by renowned defence attorney Alan Jackson.

Severe Charges and a Film Release Paused

Prosecutors have added special circumstances of multiple murders and use of a dangerous weapon—a knife. This means that if convicted, Nick Reiner could face life in prison without parole or even the death penalty.

In the wake of the tragedy, the release of Rob Reiner's final film, Spinal Tap at Stonehenge: The Final Finale, has been paused. Distributor Bleecker Street has put the release on hold while they consult with those closest to the Reiner family.

Meanwhile, the extended Reiner family gathered in Los Angeles on Tuesday to mourn, with Rob's brother, Lucas Reiner, pictured greeting grieving relatives at his home.
