Build-A-Bear Recalls Hugs Bear Over Choking Hazard

A popular Build-A-Bear toy has been urgently recalled after a safety hazard was identified. The Heartwarming Hugs Bear 2 with Zipper Closure poses a risk of choking, according to the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS). Customers are advised to stop using the product immediately.

Details of the Recall

The recalled item is a brown weighted plush bear featuring a zipped pouch containing a heart filled with ceramic beads, which can be heated or cooled. The OPSS warned that the zipper on the pouch can detach, creating a small part that presents a choking hazard to young children. The product fails to meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

Purchase Period and Model Number

The bear was sold between January 21 and March 6 this year, with a model number of 434464. Customers are instructed to return the bear to any Build-A-Bear store for a refund in the form of original payment or a gift card.
