Disturbing Footage Exposes Russian Army's Brutal Punishment Tactics
A harrowing new video has surfaced, providing a stark illustration of the barbaric treatment within Vladimir Putin's military forces. The footage shows a near-naked Russian soldier, identified as a refusenik who attempted to flee, being subjected to degrading torture by his commanding officer. The serviceman, wearing only underpants, appears to have sustained broken ribs after being thrown into a makeshift pit.
Systematic Abuse in the 82nd Motor Rifle Regiment
The commander from Russia's 82nd Motor Rifle Regiment, military unit 52033, is seen taunting and physically abusing the soldier in the squalid hole. In the video, the officer shouts obscenities while demanding the soldier express regret for attempting to escape the frontline of Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine. "Come on, you ****ing ****, how are you feeling?" the commander yells before the injured soldier weakly responds, "I feel sick."
The abuse escalates as the commander orders the soldier to eat dirt from the pit. "Eat the dirt, you *****! Eat it, eat it, eat it, you ****ing *****. You dog, you *****," the officer screams. He then forces the serviceman to crawl on all fours like an animal, adding, "Since you're a dog, go on, have a walk, crawl around on all fours."
Threats of Lethal Punishment
When the soldier pleads that his ribs hurt, the commander dismisses his pain with vulgar threats. "**** your ribs, for ****'s sake! Tomorrow you'll go on a raid with a pancake, you ****ing *****!" The term "pancake" refers to a mine that could explode and kill the soldier at any moment during such dangerous missions. These raids against Ukrainian defensive positions carry an extremely high mortality risk.
This disturbing footage represents just one example in a growing collection of videos circulating on Telegram and other social media platforms that document systematic abuse within Russian military units. The Daily Mail recently compiled numerous graphic videos showing commanders beating, electrocuting, and starving their own troops. Other punishments include forcing soldiers to crawl through mud, tying them naked to trees in freezing temperatures, and even making them fight to the death.
Pattern of Systematic Brutality
The emerging evidence paints a picture of widespread institutionalized cruelty. Additional footage shows injured soldiers on crutches being forcibly returned to combat, while troops in Ukrainian dugouts survive on stolen potatoes due to supply failures. Commanders are reportedly sending men into so-called "meat storm" battles that resemble suicide missions, where soldiers are thrown at Ukrainian positions until they exhaust their ammunition.
Those who refuse orders or attempt to flee face brutal retaliation. One video depicts two naked men lying in a pit as their commander fires bullets into the ground nearby while screaming, "Lay there for a few more days until you understand how to follow orders." Another clip shows a middle-aged soldier chained by the neck inside a box while his commander taunts him with food before throwing it at his head and pouring water over him.
Dehumanizing Treatment of Soldiers
Perhaps most disturbing are the videos that show commanders deliberately dehumanizing their troops. In one instance, half-naked soldiers are chained to a tree while a commander declares, "These are our dogs who ran away from us, but we caught them." The men are then forced to bark like animals before being urinated upon.
Another clip from the 132nd Brigade shows two terrified soldiers duct-taped to a tree, with one having a bucket placed over his head that the commander repeatedly kicks. The officer shouts, "Why did you refuse orders?" while beating the man, then threatens to shoot the elderly soldier before urinating on the younger one.
Further evidence includes a middle-aged soldier being beaten while accused of theft, with commanders writing "I'm a thief" across his chest in black marker and forcing him to dance while dressed as a clown. Another video captures a man screaming and writhing on the floor as laughing soldiers repeatedly electrocute him.
These videos collectively reveal a culture of extreme brutality within segments of the Russian military, where commanders employ torture, humiliation, and lethal threats to maintain discipline among troops increasingly unwilling to participate in Putin's war against Ukraine.
