Tragic Discovery: 'Deeply Loved' Autistic Girl Found Dead in Golf Course Pond
The body of a young girl who went missing in Doncaster has been tragically discovered in a pond on a golf course, following an extensive police search that utilised drones and aircraft. South Yorkshire Police confirmed the devastating news after the child was reported missing in the Skellow area of Doncaster on Monday morning, just before 10am.
Extensive Search Efforts
Emergency services launched a large-scale operation to locate the missing child, deploying advanced resources including police drones and aircraft to scour the area. Despite these efforts, the girl was later found deceased in a pond situated on the Owston Hall golf course. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police expressed profound sorrow, stating, "Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services colleagues, they were pronounced deceased."
Family Support and Fundraiser
The police have informed the child's family and are providing support during this harrowing time. "The thoughts of everybody at SYP are with them at this devastating time," the spokesperson added. A GoFundMe fundraiser identified the girl as seven-year-old Nyla May Bradshaw, describing her as "a deeply loved little girl – autistic and non-verbal – who brought so much light and love to those around her."
The fundraiser page highlighted the family's immense grief, noting that "her sudden and devastating loss has left her family in unimaginable shock and heartbreak." It also revealed that Nyla May was not in the care of her parents at the time of the drowning, compounding the tragedy with unanswered questions and the overwhelming burden of funeral arrangements.
