Beloved Brothers Die Four Days Apart: Aneurysm, Liver Disease

Two brothers from Stoke-on-Trent have died just four days apart, leaving their family heartbroken. Chris Rogers, 42, passed away on June 19, 2026, following the death of his younger brother Dave Rogers, 37, on June 15. Both lived in the Hanley flats complex in Stoke and were known for their fun-loving personalities.

Sudden Aneurysm Strikes Dave Rogers

Dave's partner, Claire Louise-Meigh, described how tragedy struck suddenly. “We were having a laugh and a joke with him. Then he just stopped, paused, and dropped. His face drooped and his pupil blew. A blood vessel had burst in his brain,” she told The Sentinel. Dave underwent a 13-hour surgery but was declared brain dead afterward.

Chris Rogers' Health Struggles

Chris had been battling liver damage for about six months, which led to kidney damage and severe fluid retention. “It was slowly poisoning him,” Claire said. Despite signs of improvement, he died less than 24 hours after doctors said his liver appeared to be healing. Claire described Chris as her soulmate and said the loss of both brothers is “the worst thing I’ve ever had to go through.” She added, “Chris died shouting out for his brother. He was never allowed to see his little brother before he passed away, because he was too ill. They never got to say goodbye. I think that just made Chris give up.”

Tribute to the Brothers

Claire paid tribute to the pair: “The pair of them were amazing. They got on like a house on fire. They were so funny, it was unreal.” The family is now mourning the unexpected loss of two beloved members.
