Chaos erupted in Birmingham city centre after a driver rammed into multiple parked cars and fled the scene on foot. The incident occurred on Wheelwright Road in Erdington shortly before 11:30 PM on Friday, May 15.
Details of the Incident
The vehicle struck a number of parked cars before two men abandoned it and left the area on foot. An eyewitness walking his dog at the time described seeing a car speeding past and slamming into a bunch of parked vehicles.
The witness stated: "The suspect appeared to have fled the scene before police and an ambulance arrived. Locals were confused by the chaos that had happened at that time and were upset with the pure brutality and neglect towards their property. These could have been people's lives at risk because of the negligent driver."
Drugs Found at Scene
The witness also claimed to have found drugs at the scene and handed them over to police, as reported by Birmingham Live.
West Midlands Police confirmed they are investigating the incident and urged anyone with information to come forward. A police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 11:30 PM on Friday night (May 15), we were called to a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on Wheelwright Road, Tyburn. There were no reported injuries. Two men from one of the vehicles left the scene. We are making enquiries, and anyone with any information should contact us on 101 quoting log number 6362 of 15 May."
