Tristan Williams, a 22-year-old from Swansea, has been sentenced to an extended 13-year jail term for raping an unresponsive woman while carrying a machete and filming the attack. The victim, who was under the influence of illicit substances, only became aware of the assault upon discovering the recording on September 11, 2025.
Details of the Attack
A jury at Swansea Crown Court heard that Williams had the machete in his back pocket during the rape, which he later claimed was to make him "look cool." He was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of assault by beating, and one count of voyeurism. Additionally, he was in breach of a 12-month community order dated June 5, 2025.
Previous Convictions and Impact
Williams has two prior convictions for five offences, including driving while unfit through drugs and possession of amphetamine. In a victim impact statement read in court, the survivor described experiencing nightmares, fear of every noise, and a constant state of hypervigilance.
Police Statement
Detective Inspector Meirian Evans of South Wales Police said: "This was a horrendous sexual attack carried out against the victim by a man with previous offences of great concern despite his young age. Tristan Williams is clearly a man who is very dangerous to women and was likely to offend again." Evans added that the sentence should serve as a warning to sexual predators and reassurance to victims that the law will act decisively. He commended the victim's bravery in coming forward.
The court also issued a restraining order against Williams, who will serve an extended sentence of 13 years.
