TikTok Shop Recalls Baby Float Over Drowning Risk

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued an urgent recall for a baby neck float sold on TikTok Shop, citing a risk of drowning. The swimming training aid fails to meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Product Poses Multiple Hazards

According to the recall notice, the baby float may place inappropriate pressure on an infant's neck, restricting normal movement or airway positioning. The OPSS also warns that the float increases the risk of the infant slipping through, becoming trapped, overturning, or being left in an unsafe floating position. These hazards could lead to neck injury, asphyxiation, drowning, or other serious harm.

Recall and Removal

TikTok has removed the product listing from its marketplace and recalled the item. The company stated that safety and trust are a top priority, and they proactively removed the product while alerting the OPSS. TikTok prohibits listings for any products recalled by the manufacturer or a government agency and sends recall notices to affected customers.
