Tribute to Dad-of-Two Found Dead in Hotel Room

Graham Smith, a 42-year-old father of two, was found dead in a hotel room in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, on June 11. He was pronounced dead at the scene at the Queens Hotel. Born in Preston, Smith worked as a strategic projects director.

Wife's Heartfelt Tribute

Smith's wife paid tribute to him online, sharing photographs of him with their sons. She described him as a 'proud and devoted dad' and highlighted his many talents: 'Graham was a goalkeeping extraordinaire, an outstanding cook, keen hiker, golfer, Bob Graham support expert and self-appointed General Knowledge World Champion.' She added that his 'humour, kindness, loyalty and ability to tell you exactly why your facts, directions or opinions were wrong will be remembered by everyone lucky enough to have known him.'

Inquest Details

An inquest into Graham's death was opened and adjourned at Preston Coroners' Court on July 2. Senior Coroner Chris Long confirmed the cause of death was consistent with suicide. A final inquest is scheduled for October 27.
