The critically acclaimed television series Adolescence solidified its status as the awards season powerhouse by securing a remarkable four trophies at the 2026 Golden Globes ceremony held on Monday, 12 January.
A Clean Sweep for the Acclaimed Drama
The show, which explores the arrest of a teenage boy for a classmate's murder, matched its recent success at the Critics' Choice Awards by winning the same quartet of honours. The night's biggest prize saw Adolescence named Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture.
Its stars were also triumphant. Stephen Graham was awarded Best Actor in a TV Mini-Series, while his co-stars Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty won for Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a television series, respectively. This follows a string of Emmy wins for the production.
Emotional and Unforgettable Acceptance Speeches
Accepting his award, a visibly moved Stephen Graham appeared to read notes from his palm. He dedicated the win to the cast and crew, singling out his on-screen wife Christine Tremarco. In a heartfelt tribute, he thanked his producer wife, Hannah Walters, stating, "You've saved my life," and his children. His speech took a memorable turn when he spotted Queen Latifah in the audience, bowing in respect before concluding with a Bob Marley quote: "One Love."
Owen Cooper expressed disbelief at his win, reflecting on his journey from awkward drama classes to the Globes stage. He paid homage to his football team, Liverpool, closing his speech with the club's anthem, "You'll Never Walk Alone."
Other Notable Winners of the Night
The ceremony celebrated talent across film and television. Teyana Taylor won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Film for One Battle After Another, delivering a powerful message about strength and representation.
In the film categories, Paul Thomas Anderson was a double winner, securing Best Director and Best Screenplay. Stellan Skarsgard won Best Supporting Actor for Sentimental Value, and Rose Byrne claimed Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy for If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, humorously thanking her absent husband Bobby Cannavale for being at a reptile expo.
