The iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel played host to a constellation of stars on Sunday evening for the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards. Hollywood's finest descended upon the venue, turning the red carpet into a spectacle of high fashion and glamour as the awards season officially kicked off.
Red Carpet Radiance and Early Arrivals
Actress Brittany Snow, known for her role in The Hunting Wives, made a stunning entrance in a cream, sleeveless gown by designer Danielle Frankel. The elegant dress perfectly highlighted her toned arms, and she accessorised with pieces from EFFY Jewelry, wearing her blonde hair in an updo with a few face-framing strands.
She was among a host of early arrivals who set the style standard. Television host Gayle King commanded attention in a plunging cream gown adorned with intricate beading, while Amanda Kloots opted for dramatic sophistication in a sleek, backless black dress, her hair styled in a chic updo. Presenter Kit Hoover brought a splash of colour to proceedings, looking glamorous in a baby blue gown with her hair in loose waves.
Also making a stylish appearance was Dylan Efron, brother of Zac Efron, who cut a dapper figure in a classic black suit paired with a light blue shirt and a silver watch. The ceremony was once again hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who returns for her second consecutive year. Glaser promised to bring her signature "no-holds-barred" humour to the podium, quipping in a prior statement about her hopes to be cast in the next season of The White Lotus.
The Battle for the Globes: Nominations and Snubs
When the nominations were revealed, the epic film One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, led the pack with an impressive nine nods. These included recognition for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, and acting honours for DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, and Sean Penn.
It faced stiff competition in the Best Picture – Musical or Comedy category from films like Blue Moon, Bugonia, and Marty Supreme. A major surprise was the omission of Wicked: For Good from this category, though its stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande did receive individual acting nominations.
In the television categories, Netflix's hit series Adolescence continued its award-season success, earning five nominations following its Emmy wins. Its stars Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and 16-year-old Owen Cooper all received acting nods, alongside a surprise nomination for Ashley Walters. However, The White Lotus narrowly edged ahead with six nominations, predominantly in the acting categories thanks to its ensemble cast.
Other notable snubs included Sydney Sweeney missing out on a Best Actress nomination for Christy, and Kathryn Bigelow's Netflix thriller A House of Dynamite failing to secure a single nomination.
Honouring Excellence and Looking Ahead
The 2026 ceremony marked a significant expansion for the Golden Globes, honouring the best in film, television, and, for the first time, podcasts across 28 categories. One winner was announced ahead of the main event: Dame Helen Mirren was named the recipient of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne praised Mirren as a "force of nature" with an "extraordinary" career.
With categories featuring intense competition—such as Best Male Actor in a Television Drama, which includes Sterling K. Brown, Gary Oldman, and Adam Scott—the night was filled with anticipation. The ceremony not only celebrated the past year's outstanding achievements but also set the stage for the upcoming Oscars race, proving once again why the Golden Globes remain a pivotal and glittering highlight of the entertainment calendar.
