Sarah Jessica Parker wins Carol Burnett Award at Golden Eve

Hollywood royalty Sarah Jessica Parker was celebrated in style on Tuesday night, receiving a prestigious television honour at the Golden Eve gala in Beverly Hills. The actress was joined on the red carpet by her husband, Matthew Broderick, and their eldest child, their son James, who makes few public appearances.

A Family Affair on the Red Carpet

The event, which precedes the Golden Globe Awards on January 11, saw the Sex and the City star, 60, presented with the Carol Burnett Award. The award, given annually since 2019, recognises outstanding contributions to television both on and off screen. Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, stated that Parker's career 'embodies the very spirit' of the award, citing her 'trailblazing impact on television' and dedication to storytelling.

The night was made extra special by the presence of her family. James, the couple's 21-year-old son, dressed in a black tuxedo, white shirt, and corsage, shared a tender moment with his mother, giving her a kiss on the cheek as they posed together. Parker, who married Broderick, 63, in 1997, looked typically glamorous in a silver shimmering gown cinched with a matching belt and accessorised with a silver necklace and black jacket.

Career Highlights and Future Projects

The supportive crowd included several of Parker's former co-stars from the iconic HBO series, with Kristin Davis, Evan Handler, and David Eigenberg all in attendance to see her receive the accolade. Parker recently concluded her run as Carrie Bradshaw in the HBO Max continuation And Just Like That, which was cancelled in August.

Looking ahead, the actress is set to reprise her role as Sarah Sanderson in the upcoming Disney+ sequel, Hocus Pocus 3. Co-stars Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy are also expected to return, with Midler praising the 'brilliant script' and Thora Birch expressing openness to rejoining the cast as Dani from the original film.

Family Values and a Budding Acting Career

Parker and Broderick, who are also parents to 16-year-old twin daughters Marion and Tabitha, have been open about their parenting philosophy. In a recent interview, Parker revealed they do not plan to bankroll their children's lives with their combined $245 million fortune. She emphasised the importance of her children pursuing challenging and gratifying work to become emotionally and financially self-reliant.

Their son James is already following in his parents' footsteps as a full-time actor. He has secured a guest-star role as Carl in an episode of the CBS crime series Elsbeth, a project that saw him working alongside his famous father, Matthew Broderick.
