A heartwarming reunion of the Sex and the City cast took centre stage at Wednesday night's glittering Golden Eve event in Los Angeles, held in honour of the show's leading lady, Sarah Jessica Parker.
A Star-Studded Tribute to an Icon
The prestigious evening at The Beverly Hilton, which will air on US television on January 8, saw Parker, 60, presented with the Carol Burnett Golden Globe for her outstanding contribution to television. The award was presented by last year's recipient, Ted Danson.
Parker was surrounded by a formidable show of support from her former colleagues and family. Her husband of 28 years, Matthew Broderick, and their 23-year-old son, James Wilkie, were in attendance, with James planting a proud kiss on his mother's cheek for photographers.
The On-Screen Family Back Together
The event transformed into a mini SATC reunion as key cast members from the original series and its sequel, And Just Like That, came together. Kristin Davis, who played the ever-romantic Charlotte, was visibly delighted to be reunited with her on-screen husband, Evan Handler (Harry).
The pair, aged 60 and 64 respectively, shared affectionate moments on the red carpet, with Davis looking stunning in a chic black gown. They were soon joined by the honouree, Sarah Jessica Parker, and their co-star David Eigenberg, 61, who played Steve, Miranda's love interest.
The gathering was particularly poignant as it followed the cancellation of the spin-off show And Just Like That last year after three seasons.
From Screen Couples to TikTok Trends
This red carpet reunion comes just months after another beloved SATC pairing delighted fans online. In November, Kristin Davis shared a hilarious TikTok video with Kyle MacLachlan, 23 years after their characters' marriage as Charlotte and Trey MacDougal ended in the show's fourth season.
In a stark contrast to their prim characters, the duo, now 60 and 66, mouthed along to a musical mash-up of Nicki Minaj and 4 Non Blondes. The playful video, created with TikTok star @dj.auxlord, sparked joy among fans who flooded the comments with nostalgic messages, wondering what Trey's mother, Bunny MacDougal, would have said.
The Sex and the City phenomenon, which began in 1998, spanned 94 episodes across six series until 2004, was followed by two movies and the recent sequel series, cementing its place in television history.
The Golden Eve event also saw acting legend Helen Mirren receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award, ahead of the main 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Sunday.
