Angelina Jolie has shared a rare insight into her personal life and revealed she hasn't dated since splitting from ex-husband Brad Pitt a decade ago. The actress, 51, admitted in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment that she has steered clear of romantic relationships since their 2016 divorce.
Focus on Family
Jolie, who shares six children with Pitt—Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne—said she has prioritised her family over her personal life. "To be candid, I haven't dated since I divorced a decade ago," she told Yahoo! Entertainment. "So I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centred in my life if I'm focusing on my children, my family."
Role in Couture Helped Perspective
Jolie said that playing the role of Maxine in her latest movie Couture helped her come to terms with balancing family life and personal relationships. "It took me a second to kind of say, well, she can also love her daughter and be dedicated to her daughter and also need this as a woman and receive this as a woman," she explained.
Feeling Broken but Learning to Live Again
The Oscar-winning actress admitted that life has taken a toll on her over the years. "Things are changing, but in a way I didn't expect. It doesn't feel like I'm 51 and starting to think of being older. I'm thinking I have to live again. Be free again," she said. "In a way that maybe life has broken me a little bit."
Jolie said she now feels she is slowly getting back to being the person she used to be. She also hopes her daughters never feel as if they have lost part of themselves. "I'm discovering something now that my daughters are older. They're talking to me as young women, and I'm seeing what I want for them. I'm seeing what I don't want them to lose and what I want them to hold on to. And it's kind of reminding me what I may have lost," she said.
No Dating Rumours Confirmed
In August 2024, a source close to Jolie denied rumours that she was dating rapper Akala after they were spotted arriving at the Venice Film Festival together. "She and Akala are not dating," a source told People Magazine. "She is friends with him and his partner, Chanelle, who was also there."
Brad Pitt's Relationship
Meanwhile, Brad Pitt has been in a relationship for four years with 33-year-old jewellery designer Ines de Ramon. Despite engagement rumours, it was recently reported that the couple has 'no plans to marry' any time soon.
